Hello!!
My name is Kathy McCarty Thornberry. You may know me as the rock guitar songwriting singer from the band GLASS EYE. THat is, if you lived in AUstin in the 80′s. I also write food criticism for the AUstin Chronicle under the name Kate Thornberry, and I am also in the documentary THE DEVIL AND DANIEL JOHNSTON which you may have seen.
For SOME REASON, I think you may have bumped up against me out in the real world in some way.
I am ALSO acupuncturist Jeannie Evans next-door neighbor, and recently you gave her five copies of your excellent book WORDS YOU DON’T KNOW, and she gave a copy to my husband David Thornberry and me.
ANd I just wanted to write you and tell you that I think your book is GREAT and I am really enjoying it immensely, and I am probably going to blog about how great it is, because I am a lover of words,, a ridiculously silly enamored lover of words.
I can tell you with great pride that although I have read but four chapters, I actually KNEW five words: UMAMI (as a food writer that one was well-known to me), Fortuitism, squaliform, pigmentocracy, and astraphobia (my husband was hit by lightning)(he does not suffer from astraphobia, however, as he lived.)
I strongly disagree with you that the word Xenoglossy should be eradicated, because it was coined to deal with it actually happening! It has often happened to people who suffer brain injury, which is just ten different kinds of weird. They needed a word for for it!
So thank you for this lovely work. I will recommend ti to all my friends.

Hello!
What a fantastic site you have here, such a treasure trove.
I am writing to you about;
“Rah rah racker rah
?Racker rah rooney
?Ecca pecka
?Curiecker?
Rum tum tush.”
from your article 10 Nonsense Words You Don’t Know- it is such a beautiful collection of nonsense! I wonder whether you would mind me using it in a children’s book I am writing as a magic spell? It is just such so wonderful!
Many thanks,
Emily Harper
