The grew out of the Have Mac Will Blog web site. Robin Bloor, the blogger of that site, was cavalier in what he posted. However if a blog is an on-line journal, he was doing more than blogging. The site had  postings that were in the nature of articles  and spanned many topics from humorous topics through politics and green issues to technology, including of course, a strong focus on Apple computer.

The blogger concluded at some point that this rag bag of topics needed to be separated out for two reasons:

• Horses for courses: Different postings attracted different traffic. Which would be fine, but Bloor wanted to generate advertising revenue and that meant grouping content together.
• Publishing: Following the storm of traffic that the Words You Don’t Know postings attracted, he decided to publish some of his writings, beginning by publishing a book based on some of those postings.

Consequently, WordsYouDontKnow.com is a site devoted to the light-hearted writing that Bloor undertakes. The intention is that it will be updated regularly with new material and that it will also be a repository for Quotations and Dictionaries of various kinds.
